The difficult task I have is gathering the clips I want, in High Definition quality, without a watermark embedded onto the video. I already have a few ways to overcome the watermark solution, which is enlarging the video slightly and putting two black rectangles at the top and at the bottom of the screen. The bit with the watermark will be hidden underneath the black rectangle.
I found a online video converter which can convert YouTube videos and any other flash player online to Mp4 straight to my downloads, it's just a matter of getting at least 720p quality.

Editing day #1
First of all I wanted to edit the soundtrack so it isn't as long as it is, because I want to put more emphasis on the main chorus which is full speed drum and bass. The original piece repeats the chorus for quite a long time. I thought it was a good idea to shorten it so the chorus is played just once, giving it a more emphatic power which can then fade out calmly with a sound fade.
Next I wanted to the audio from the inspirational speeches, then to plant them on the timeline in a sufficient order which syncs well with the music and has appropriate pauses in-between them. I got the videos on youtube and I converted them to mp3, then imported them into FinalCut and trimmed them up onto the beginning of the video.
After the audio was all done, I started gathering the video clips. As proposed I wanted some tense vibe clips of close of the players, I wanted the video to try suit what the speech was saying as much as possible.
The video starts off with two beats, I use the two beats to have a clip of a Russian building then a shot behind a goal - of the net. This introduces straight away Russian culture and football relation. The first quote about 'Our deepest fear', to boast its power I found three clips of close ups of popular footballers - Messi, Bale and Rodriguez. I colour corrected the clips to make them dark, with half their face almost a silhouette and half of their face in light. The quote says the words 'Dark and Light' so it inspired me to play with light and dark on the video. The video clips are very slow as I have retimed them to be slower, reinforcing the emphasis on the quote.
