Research | Poster inspiration

As mentioned before I said I already knew an illustrator (Stanley Chow) and my work is inspired by him, he does flat 2D cartoon portraits of famous celebrities, I really enjoy looking at his work I think it looks really cool and it is something I want to try and do. He's actually done some of famous football players already, I want to try emulate his style into my concept of the Russian dolls but applying my personal touch of visual style.

So my idea is having the players in the shape, size and order like the Russian dolls. I think it emulates the culture of Russia well and gives it a fun, creative idea. The posters that have already been made for the world cup in my opinion are dull and boring. The world cup should give that exciting vibe and in these posters shown I believe I can create something more enjoyable to look at.

They are well made, obviously. But I just don't get any satisfactions looking at the designs or any excitement, so hopefully my idea can do that.

Visual inspiration - Stanley Chow

Stanley is an illustrator based in New York whom illustrates portraits of famous people in a fun, 2D manner. I found his work on twitter as it was posted onto my timeline by some football journalists who I follow and just really admired what he done.

His style is very emphatic, boasting personal features of celebrities in an exciting humorous style.
Here is some of his art work which I wish to emulate a similar style into what I am doing.

He's done a lot of footballers already which can help me for when I aim to nail facial features that create a clear identity of who they are.
