Technical research | Splash page

I was thinking on my home page, to have a splash page of all the artists pictures in windows, tiled in a nice clean structure, in which you hover over the image and a roll over of the artists name comes up which you click on to get information.

I came across this which gave me the inspiration.

So I could have all the artists pictures there, and when the cursor is hovered over one of the images a roll over of the artist names comes up, like in the far left one of this splash page.

Why use a splash page?
  • Splash pages are fast loading, they get all the information up quickly on the first page without scrolling.
  • Splash pages ensure that your readers see your animation or flash, at least once.
  • They are a great way to show off your best work, like a portfolio.
  • Splash pages allow your readers to choose the site technology that fits them.
  • You can then use your server logs to see what the breakdown is of your actual customers.
